Tæknipúlsinn collects no personal data about visitors, sells nothing, and shows no ads. This page explains exactly what we store, why, and where.
Who runs Tæknipúlsinn?
Tæknipúlsinn is run from Reykjavík. If you have questions or concerns about privacy, use the form at the bottom of this page and we will reply by email.
Visitors
You need no account to use Tæknipúlsinn, and we use no tracking cookies, no ad networks and no cross-site analytics. The site stores only two settings in your browser: your chosen language and light/dark theme. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and request time) for a short period for security purposes.
Messages sent through the site
When you send us a question through the form we store your email address and message so we can reply. They are used for no other purpose and are never published.
Submissions
When you submit an event, community or company we store what you enter, including your name and email if you provide them. We use that information only to review the submission and contact you if needed. It is never published.
Newsletter
When the Tæknipúlsinn newsletter launches, you sign up with an email address and confirm the subscription. The address is used only to send the newsletter, and you can unsubscribe at any time with one click. We never send marketing on behalf of others.
What we do not do
We do not sell, rent or share personal data for marketing. We build no profiles, show no advertising, and transfer no data outside the European Economic Area except as stated on this page.
Where data is stored
The Tæknipúlsinn database is hosted by Supabase in Ireland (EU) and the application runs on Vercel in Europe. Content is delivered to visitors through a global content delivery network, but stored data stays within the European Economic Area.
Processors
We use Supabase (database and sign-in), Vercel (hosting) and, for summaries and translations, an AI service from Anthropic. The AI receives only the public text of news items and events, never personal data. When the newsletter launches, an email delivery service will be added and this page updated.
Public content
Tæknipúlsinn aggregates headlines, short summaries and links from public sources and always points to the original publisher or organizer. Publishers and organizers can ask for content to be removed and we act on such requests promptly.
Your rights
Under the Icelandic Data Protection Act (no. 90/2018) and the GDPR you have the right to access the data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to processing. Send your request through the form at the bottom of this page and we will respond within one month. You may also lodge a complaint with the Icelandic Data Protection Authority, Persónuvernd (personuvernd.is).
Retention
Messages and submissions are kept while being handled and for up to twelve months afterwards. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Hosting logs are kept for a few weeks.
Changes
If this policy changes we update the date at the top of the page. Significant changes affecting the newsletter are announced in the newsletter itself.
